College Basketball Saturday, January 28 Parlay Picks

It was another tough 2-1 showing for our Saturday Parlay Picks after Texas Tech blew a lead deep in the second half and failed to even cover the closing College Basketball odds against K-State. The Red Raiders then went on to get destroyed at home by West Virginia. The team is bad folks – real bad! TCU and Providence did however get us in the black. The Horned Frogs went into the Phog and smashed the Kansas Jayhawks as decided underdogs, while the Friars sneaked in a win by margin against what proved to be a game DePaul outfit. Let’s roll those winnings into this Saturday’s action and see if we can’t churn out another winning parlay card at the online sportsbook!

Minnesota Golden Gophers

Saturday’s early tip finds the Northwestern Wildcats playing a third game in six days due to the program going on pause because of COVID concerns. Even so, linemakers will have Chris Collins’ Cats installed decided favorites to win a third straight with Minnesota 1-8 in B1G play and winners of just one game away from Williams Arena. With the Golden Gophers entering this tilt losers of three straight and leading scorer Dawson Garcia questionable to play after sitting the near upset of Indiana out, I got a pretty good feeling Minny takes back a few extra possessions than they should. Minnesota has covered each of its last three on the road as double-digit dogs (1-2 SU) to Wisconsin, Ohio State, and Michigan. The defense has been locked in and UNW’s offense hardly impresses. So long as Minnesota doesn’t fall victim to copious amounts of turnovers – which is a possibility - I don’t foresee Northwestern having the legs to cover the inflated number.

Creighton Bluejays

Xavier passed the first test of this critical two-game roady after going into Storrs and pulling a wire-to-wire job to sweep the season rivalry from the UConn Huskies. Now they must pack their bags and head to Omaha where a game bunch of Creighton Bluejays will be looking to even the season series and put life back into their Big East regular season title hopes. At some point, the Musketeers lack of depth is going to catch up to them. That spot just might be this Saturday after Greg McDermott got to empty his bench on Wednesday night after pounding St. John’s into a bloody pulp. On the flipside, Sean Miller was forced to max out his starting five in order to withstand a furious second half charge from the Huskies. Seeking same season revenge and currently locked in taking three straight (2-1 ATS), the Bluejays will threaten the 100-point plateau for the second straight game and win this one wire-to-wire. Look to hit Creighton 1H as well!

DePaul Blue Demons

College basketball bettors overlooked Marquette heading into the 2022-23 CBB betting season. Initially +4250 to win the Big East, Shaka’s kids now only sit in back of Xavier on the futures odds to win the conference. The team has been nothing if not a moneymaker managing point spread covers at a 14-6-1 clip! Though Kam Jones and co. just went on the road and smashed Seton Hall, the triumph only moved them to 4-3 on the road. We backed the DePaul Blue Demons 10 days ago at home versus Xavier, and we didn’t need any of the points we got after Umoja Gibson led his squad to the 73-72 upset of the Musketeers. Tony Stubblefield’s kids have won seven of 10 in front of the hometown faithful and stands 2-1 SU and 2-0-1 ATS against the last three Big East opponents. DePaul’s 2-1 SU and ATS the last three times it hosted its rival to the north and I foresee another spirited being effort put forth Saturday afternoon.

Maryland Terrapins

Nebraska has been forced to march a skeleton crew onto the hardwood due to the injury bug decimating the roster. The result has been losses in four of five with only a fluke win over Ohio State to their credit. Offense is nonexistent in Lincoln right now with Big Red managing fewer than 60 points per game during the cold streak. Maryland got out to a roaring start in winning eight straight (7-1 ATS) before dropping five of seven to crash back to reality. Kevin Willard has righted the ship recently with Jahmir Young and his mates 2-1 SU and 3-0 ATS in its last three with the lone defeat coming in the form of a 58-55 loss and cover as 9-point underdogs at Purdue. It didn’t give up more than 58 points during that stretch! The Terps have won and covered each of their last three home games against Ohio State, Michigan, and Wisconsin. Look for the defense to clamp down once again and propel the Terrapins to a 10+ point win and cover!

St. Mary’s Gaels

Randy Bennett’s Gaels haven’t been tested since gutting out a 67-64 win and non-cover at Santa Clara. That game took place back on December 31! All Aidan Mahaney and his mates have done since is go 6-0 SU and 4-0-1 against the spread after rolling SCU up in the rematch a week ago. The book is out on St. Mary’s and I’m thinking they’ll be laying extra cheddar against a BYU squad that’s recently fallen off. Mark Pope’s kids will have had a full week to reflect upon dropping both games on its recent two-game roady to Santa Clara and San Francisco. The Coogs will come out determined and test the WCC leading Gaels right from the opening tip. I’ll be looking to back the home team in the first half as well as the full game and bank on Fousseyni Traore and Gideon George preventing the Gaels from dominating the glass. St. Mary’s hasn’t beaten BYU in its gym since 2017 and will earn it if they happen to end that four-game losing streak Saturday night.
