Yankees at Red Sox Sunday Night Baseball Betting

The greatest rivalry in baseball and one of the best in sports takes the stage for Sunday Night Baseball when the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox conclude a four-game series. Halfway through the 2022 season the Bombers have built a big lead over the Sox in the AL East and are on pace to match the MLB record for most wins in a season. Boston will play a big role in that quest with 12 more games between the clubs still on the schedule after Sunday’s matchup. The teams met back in April in the Bronx with each team eking out a one-run victory and the Yanks taking the series with a two-run decision. We are used to seeing close games between the rivals and this one should be more of the same.

First pitch for this AL East matchup between New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox is set for 7:08 p.m. ET on Sunday, July 10, 2022. The game will air live on ESPN from Fenway Park. BookMaker.eu will have betting options for every game of the MLB season.

Odds Analysis

When you have the best staff ERA in baseball and the second highest scoring team good things usually happen. And guess what? The Yankees have the best record in MLB winning over 72 percent of their games. And they really hate losing. Back-to-back losses to Cleveland and Pittsburgh only pissed them off and the Pirates paid the price on Wednesday. Adding to their MLB leading home run total, the Yankees belted six with Aaron Judge going deep for the 30th time in a 16-0 win.

Despite the outburst the Yankees have been a strong pick against the UNDER. They had played below the total in three straight and six of seven before Wednesday. Overall the UNDER is 44-36-2 in their first 82 games. They don’t have many flaws making even probable Jameson Taillon look good. The staff benefits behind an offense that scores more than five runs a game and Taillon has taken it a step further. He’s won nine games and the club is 13-3 in his starts making him one of the top moneymakers up $642.

Unless the Sox go on a major heater and the Yankees epically crumble in the second half, Boston is competing for a wild card. The Sox won 77 percent of their games in June and still lost ground in the standings. The head-to-head matchups take on more meaning not only in the division but in the wild card standings, too. They’re unlikely to catch the Yanks, but they are tied with Tampa Bay for the top wild card spot.

How they play at Fenway Park from here on out will determine where they finish in the playoff seedings. The Sox dropped the last two of a three-game set to the Rays by a combined score of 15-5 and have been unable to carry over the momentum into July. They fell to 21-18 at Fenway giving them a worse home record than Baltimore, which is in last place in the AL East.

Probable Pitchers

The Yankees have used the same five starters for all but two of their games, and none of them has won more games than Jameson Taillon (9-2, 3.63 ERA). He’s received plenty of run support with the team averaging nearly six runs in his 16 starts plating at least five runs in nine of his 16 outings. He lost in Pittsburgh last time out allowing five runs on six hits in 5.1 innings, his first setback since his first start of the season. He was 9-0 and the team 13-1 in his 14 previous starts. Taillon has allowed more hits (92) than innings pitched (89.1) this season, but he’s been able to limit the damage with impeccable control. He’s walked just 11 batters with no more than two free passes in any of his starts. In three starts against the Sox last year he was 2-0 with a 2.04 ERA.

The Sox are expected to hand the ball to Nick Pivetta (8-6, 3.68 ERA) in the series finale. He seemed to get straightened out after a tough first month going 8-2 with a 2.18 ERA in 12 starts through May and June. However, like the team, he struggled in his lone July outing surrendering eight hits and seven runs over 5.2 frames in a loss to the Rays. Pivetta started against the Yanks in April giving up four hits, two of which left the yard, and four runs in 5.2 innings in a loss. He’s pitched to a 6.39 ERA in 12.2 innings over his last three starts against the Bombers with the Sox going 0-3.

Yankees at Red Sox MLB Odds Pick

Halfway through the season it’s clear the Yankees are the class of baseball. They can bash the ball and their pitching has been exceptional. There’s always the added intensity of a rivalry, but New York has maintained its consistency while the Sox blew their load last month and couldn’t gain any ground.
